Description:
The goal of this project is the design and implementation of a Geographic Information System platform following an Open Source philosophy and conforming to international standards. This platform will facilitate the data acquisition of field information using PDA and GPS devices, and importing the data from geographic file formats. On the other hand, it will enable a user to define configurable maps both in terms of layers and scale, which are generated using systematically techniques of cartographic generalization. In addition, this project will create macros and specific commands for commercial CAD tools (like Microstation and AutoCad) to facilitate the cartography edition processes, ensuring that the cartography created follows the data models and the standards for styles elaborated by the Territorial Information System of Galicia (SITGA).
